Lil' Iguana's fingers clung tightly to the merry-go-round, wrapping around the cold and shiny metal bars like vines clinging to a sturdy tree. His heart raced with excitement as Jags, Kelvin, and Arturo pushed harder and harder, sending the merry-go-round spinning faster and faster.
The world blurred around Lil’ Iguana as he spun round and round. Colors and shapes blended together like a kaleidoscope sky. The wind tickled his face and made the sleeves of his shirt dance in the breeze.
As the merry-go-round spun faster and faster, Lil' Iguana closed his eyes. He imagined himself flying high above the clouds, soaring through the endless sky like a pilot in an airplane.
The friends were having the best time ever! They couldn't stop laughing, and their giggles were like magic. It was as if every giggle spread a little bit of happiness all around them. Even the birds in the trees seemed to join in, chirping along with the chorus of giggles. The sun smiled down on them, its warm rays wrapping around the friends like a cozy blanket.
Kelvin, Jags, and Arturo kept pushing Lil’ Iguana round and round until they couldn't anymore. Their energy slowly dripped away, leaving them giggly and breathless.
The merry-go-round slowed down and creaked as it lost momentum.
The friends leaned against the bars, their chests rising and falling like waves on the shore. They were panting and laughing all at once.
Lil’ Iguana opened his eyes and stood up to face his friends.
“Woah, what a ride,” he said as he held onto the merry-go round to get his balance. “Who’s next?”
The sun was starting to dip low in the sky, painting streaks of pink and orange across the horizon. The friends agreed it was time to head home for dinner.
Lil’ Iguana, Arturo, Jags, and Kelvin walked side by side along the gravel path back home. Their footsteps crunching softly with each step. They were like a little parade, marching back home together as buddies, sharing stories and laughter along the way. The friends always walked home together because they knew they were safer in a group than by themselves.
In the distance, they could see their houses. Light was pouring out of the windows, like a beacon calling them back after their adventures.
As they reached their houses, they waved goodbye to each other, promising to meet up again soon for more fun and games. Their parents were waiting for them with open arms, ready to hear all about their day.
The house smelled like Lil’ Iguana’s favorite: spaghetti and meatballs. Lil’ Iguana’s stomach rumbled and he started walking towards the table for dinner.
“Remember, before we eat, we need to wash our hands,” said Momma Iguana. Lil’ Iguana nodded and re-routed his steps to the bathroom. Lil’ Iguana and his sisters Alli and C.K. crowded around the sink to wash their hands
Lil’ Iguana pumped soap onto his hands and lathered up, scrubbing away all the dirt and germs from the park. Lil’ Iguana and his sisters sang a song, making sure to wash for at least 20 seconds, just like Momma Iguana had taught them.
With their hands squeaky clean, Lil' Iguana and his sisters joined the dinner table, ready to eat and share some stories. It had been a long day filled with laughter and adventure, but there was nothing quite like coming home to the ones you love.
Momma Iguana passed out plates filled with spaghetti, meatballs, and colorful vegetables The family dug in, savoring each bite and exchanging stories from their day.
Lil' Iguana's sisters, C.K. and Alli, giggled as they recounted their adventures at school, while Mom and Dad shared tales of their workday triumphs and challenges.
Between bites, Lil' Iguana listened intently, his eyes wide with curiosity as he soaked in the warmth and love of his family. He felt grateful for these moments of togetherness as a family.
After dinner, Lil’ Iguana and his sisters helped clear away their dishes. Then, Lil' Iguana headed to his room with his trusty journal in hand. Sitting cross-legged on his bed, he flipped through the pages, each one filled with his thoughts, dreams, and feelings.
With his favorite pen gripped tightly between his fingers, Lil' Iguana started to write, expressing his feelings and reflections from the day.
At the end of each day, when the stars twinkled outside his window and the moon cast a gentle glow over his room, Lil' Iguana liked to write in his journal. Sometimes, he doodled little pictures, capturing the moments that made him feel big feelings.
Writing in his journal helped Lil' Iguana reflect on his day and how he was feeling deep inside. If he felt nervous about an upcoming test or anxious about trying something new, he poured his thoughts onto the page, letting the words flow freely from his heart.
He knew that sharing his feelings was important, whether he was happy, sad, scared, or mad. Whenever he felt overwhelmed by his emotions, he needed to tell an adult he trusted. He always told his Momma who listened with kind ears and helped him find ways to manage his feelings.
Lil’ Iguana closed his journal with a smile and placed it gently on his bedside table, ready to drift off to sleep into a world of dreams and adventures.
The next day, when the sun peeked through the curtains, Lil' Iguana slowly woke up and felt yucky. He had a tickle in his throat and a stuffy nose. He sniffled and rubbed his eyes, feeling groggy and achy all over.
As he shuffled out of bed, his nose began to drip, and he let out a series of loud sneezes that echoed through the room. "Achoo! Achoo!" Lil' Iguana sniffled and coughed, his voice scratchy. “Momma,” Lil’ Iguana called down the hallway.
Momma Iguana came to see Lil’ Iguana. Momma Iguana gave him a big hug and checked his temperature. It was higher than usual. Lil’ Iguana needed to stay home from school so he could rest and feel better.
Lil' Iguana rested throughout the day to give his body time to get better. He snuggled up on the couch with his favorite blanket and a pile of stuffed animals to keep him company. Lil’ Iguana looked at the world outside his window, wishing he could join his friends at school and on their after school adventures.
After every sneeze and each time he would blow his nose, Lil' Iguana made sure to wash his hands with soap and water, scrubbing them clean to rid of germs. He sang his hand washing song to make sure he washed them for the full 20 seconds, just like his mom had told him to do.
He watched his favorite cartoons and drank lots of water. Momma Iguana brought him soup and crackers to eat. Despite feeling bored, Lil' Iguana knew that rest was the best medicine. He closed his eyes and let his body relax, listening to the sounds of the house around him.
Lil' Iguana realized that taking care of himself was important. He needed to listen to his body when he wasn't feeling good. Whether he was sick, or having big feelings, he needed to give his body the rest it needed and share those feelings with his family and adults he trusted.
As the day wore on, Lil' Iguana's sniffles grew quieter, and his coughs became fewer. With each passing hour, he felt a little bit better, his body slowly getting rid of the cold.
By bedtime, as he crawled beneath his blankets once more, Lil' Iguana felt proud of himself for being brave and giving his body time to rest. He took out his journal and talked about his sick day adventures As Lil’ Iguana penned the final words of the night, a sense of peace washed over Lil' Iguana. He was feeling a lot better and ready to go back to school and see all his friends.
With a final sniffle, he drifted off to sleep, knowing that tomorrow would bring new adventures and brighter days ahead.
